The world-renowned theater troupe Cirque du Soleil has added a new show to its repertoire. This famous entertainment company, most known for their long-running shows in Las Vegas, such as O, KA, and Mystere, has recently established themselves in Macau with their production of Cirque du Soleil ZAIA. The establishment of this production in Macau has made this Asia's first permanent Cirque du Soleil show, as well as one of the biggest Macau attractions.

This Cirque show in Macau has constructed an impressive custom-built theater within the Venetian Macau, sister property to the Venetian Las Vegas. The theater, the home of ZAIA Macau, houses 1,800 seats. This fantastic theater is built to resemble a telescope, allowing the audience to peer onto what is happening. It is a truly unique experience and is very possibly the most compelling theater that has been built by Cirque du Soleil. It is estimated that the budget for both the building of the theater for ZAIA at the Macau Venetian and the creation of the show was about 150 million USD. With such a large budget, a show of this magnitude is sure to please.

A large part of the budget went to the custom-built theater, but the remaining portion went to the production of the show. The Cirque du Soleil ZAIA is a fabulous 90-minute show that features circus stunts, aerial ballet, magnificent light shows, and a compelling drama.

The story of ZAIA is told through a meshing of eastern and western music, dance, themes, and elaborate costumes. ZAIA, meaning "life" in Greek, is the name a young girl, around which the show is centered. The production is an interpretation of her dream, where the audience can experience her perceptions of outer space, the Earth, and the humans living on Earth. On her fantastical journey, ZAIA encounters a plethora of situations that introduce her to love, wisdom, and the beauty of humanity. On her journey to other dimensions she encounters magnificent beings such as futuristic robots and African shamans. She then takes what she learns and returns to Earth to share her knowledge. The Macau Cirque du Soleil show is truly an extraordinary theatrical experience.

The Macau Cirque du Soleil show highlights the beauty of dance and music. The aerial acrobats, tap, ballet, tango, and modern dance are sure to please, all of which are performed to music that combines many of the great musical styles from across the globe. Different cultures across the world are featured, and are another main theme of this production. ZAIA Macau blends the essences of Asian, Western, and African cultures.

Performances of the Macau Cirque du Soleil show run Tuesday through Saturday. There will be no ZAIA Macau shows on Mondays. Tuesday and Wednesday shows are at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays will offer two showings: 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sunday shows will be at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets for Cirque du Soleil ZAIA are relatively inexpensive, and are a great way to spend your Macau gambling winnings.
