Westin Resort Macau Golfing

With only one course currently available, Macau golf is still a work in progress. The singular choice is the Macau Golf and Country Club, located on Coloane Island, just 15 minutes away from the Macau Ferry Terminal and ten minutes away from the Macau International Airport.  The Club has been meticulously planned to combine a resort ambience with an 18-hole championship golf course, superb amenities, first-class international management, attentive service, excellent food, and a vast array of activities specially focused on golf tournaments and tuition.

The course winds itself across the top of a mountain, where you can take in spectacular views over the picturesque Hac Sa Beach and the South China Sea. Multiple varieties of trees, shrubs and natural vegetation add seasonal color to the verdant splendor of this Macau golf course, offering a great Macau vacation experience for every golfer, regardless of the score. This course hosts the Macau Open, a popular stop on the Asian PGA Tour, so you can be assured that the design, playing conditions and golf experience are top notch. After an enjoyable round of golf, Macau vacationers will appreciate the camaraderie found at the Club's 19th hole, the Members Bar.

The facilities at Macau Golf & Country Club are also top notch. Complementing the spacious locker rooms are the Club's luxury spa, containing sauna, steam rooms and a whirlpool. The Club's pool area, serviced by the Pool Bar, is the ideal place to top off your tan. Comfortable sun beds shaded by Italian umbrellas, set in a lush tropical environment, provide an ideal peaceful retreat. The Club's large and well stocked pro-shop offers leading brands of golf equipment, sports wear and club merchandise.  The Club's fine restaurants offer extensive and attractively priced menus with a wide selection of mixed cuisine.

At the end of 2005, Macau should have its second course. The soon-to-be finished Orient Golf Club rests upon Taipa Strip, reclaimed land on Taipa Island, between Coloane and Macau. This pure links course has been designed with more than just the resort traveler in mind. Its exposed position, natural hazards, course length and design create an enjoyable golf experience.  The project will have Macau's only 18 holes par 72 link style golf course, with a magnificent clubhouse designed by Harvard Master Architect Thomas Pen, and a members only guesthouse complete with swimming pool, spa, fitness center, conference rooms, restaurants, and services for business travelers. To accommodate the VIPs from the casinos, Orient Macau will issue only 300 memberships.

The Westin Macau is the place to stay for any golfer. The clubhouse is linked to this 5-star hotel, with great facilities and first class service. Constructed in tiers, the terraced resort follows the natural terrain of the mountainside, from landscaped gardens by the sea to elegantly-appointed guestrooms to the 18-hole Macau Golf & Country Club course, which extends across the roof and mountaintop. Golfers have but to ascend to the resort's top level to tee-off amid spectacular views of natural fauna, black sand beaches and the South China sea.

Lots of tour operators offer Macau golf packages with Macau hotel reservations. Westin Rates start at $200 for a round of golf and accommodation in a Garden View Room, or a weekend package with rates starting around $400. The Mandarin Oriental has a three-day package including breakfast, two 18-hole green fees, buggy fees, round-trip airport transfers, and all land transfers to golf course. Rates start at $450.  Make sure your Macau travel plans include at least one day of unwinding in this luscious golfing paradise!
